Our Magic Cool Bus #STEM project.
For 3 years, I've been frustrated about our Magic Cool Bus #STEM project.
We've served 10,000+ students, recruited 200+ volunteers in NYC, built a 3D prototype, won a few small grants, fundraised, collaborated with big brands and even got Mad Mike from MTV's Pimp My Ride to support building our bus.
I've had dozens of conversations with reputable brands, foundations and celebs about the *prospect* of funding our 501(c)(3). Many times the roadblock has been that we lack a sizable operating budget. Ie, funders don't want to fund us because we haven't been funded yet.
I've received a lot of interest from companies during recent times, but I'm going to be very honest and save us both some time:
If this isn't a serious conversation about cutting a check to support our mission to engage black and brown youth in STEM, I don't want to waste time explaining our idea. Here's our website: magiccoolbus.org, and a recent video is attached.
I am sure this idea could inspire millions of youth. Unfortunately, I've had to focus on for-profit ventures due to the above.
With that said, I haven't given up. I'm tagging companies that have recently committed to support black initiatives. Please tag other companies that should see this message!
