Few items you should have to become a PAID keynote speaker
As we move into Black History Month, I'm seeing a lot of my colleagues get invited to speak at events.
To ensure you secure the 💰, here are a few items you should have to become a PAID keynote speaker:
✅ Professional headshot
✅ Speaker website - justinshaifer.com for example
✅ 1 pager/EPK (Electronic Press Kit)
✅ A clearly articulated expertise - What do you know? Why is your perspective unique?
✅ A clearly specified target audience & customer - Who wants to hear your message? Who will pay to hear it?
✅ A track record - How many speaking gigs have you done? What notable orgs have invited you to speak?
✅ Testimonials - How do people react to your engagements?
✅ Video Reel - Always record any speaking gigs you perform, they'll come in handy later.
Most of these items: Media, testimonials, track record, come from VOLUNTEER speaking.
After 3 years of volunteer speaking, over 50% of my revenue is generated from #STEM speaking engagements.
Last BIG point: People pay DOERs to speak, not #speakers.
If you do something notable, you're more likely to get paid to speak than someone who is extremely articulate. ✍🏽
